MAMH Testimony on the Closure of Carney Hospital

MAMH provided written testimony to Steward Health Care System in deep concern for the impact the closure of Carney Hospital would have on individuals with mental health conditions and their families living in Dorchester, Mattapan, and the surrounding neighborhoods.

As an alternative to closing Carney Hospital, MAMH recommends that the hospital be bid to a Massachusetts behavioral health provider to operate: 1) acute psychiatric beds, and 2) beds for men that are involuntarily committed under Section 35 for substance use conditions.
