“Health is more than the absence of illness, and fostering individual and social resources can lead people, organizations, and communities to thrive.”

MAMH is committed to ensuring that promotion is an integral part of efforts to advance behavioral health in the Commonwealth. Mental health promotion efforts can be targeted to individuals (enhancing knowledge, encouraging healthy behaviors and fostering strengths), as well as the community (building assets, strengthening community action and advancing healthy public policy).

MAMH educates the community about mental health and wellness, addresses stigma, advocates for public policies that address social determinants and strengthen communities, and furthers the integration of social services in primary and behavioral health care. Our work to further mental health promotion is just one manifestation of our strong commitment to health equity and social justice.
