TERRORISTS ATTACK ON THE UNITED STATES

As a result of the horrific events of September 11th there has been considerable interest in obtaining information on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The VA's National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, has numerous resources, including information especially for rescue workers and reporters, as well as veteran's and others re-experiencing previous trauma
National Mental Health Association - NMHA has materials targeting employers, primary-care physicians, parent, teachers, the faith community and the general public. (The site also features a press release about the tireless work of one of our Outreach Partners, the Mental Health Association in New York City, as well as other NMHA affiliates in areas of the country especially hard hit by the terrorist attacks.)
National Association of School Psychologists - A unique resource on the NASP web site is a tip sheet for helping children cope translated into Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Vietnamese, Urdu, and Korean. The site also has materials for mental health professionals, teachers and parents, as well as ideas for school memorials, activities and rituals following traumatic events
American Psychological Association - APA has developed a set of materials called "Helping Kids Cope" that can be used to help children deal with the trauma of terrorism and its aftermath
Journal of the American Medical Association - The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) recently posted articles on its web site that outline recommendations for medical and public health professionals following the use of five kinds of biological weapons against a civilian population: smallpox, anthrax, plague, botulinum and tularemia
